Abstrak

This study aims to design and develop a web-based online New Student Admission (PPDB) system at SMKS Nahdlatul Ulama 2 Medan using the Laravel framework with the Waterfall method approach. The background of this research is based on the PPDB process that was still carried out manually, making it prone to data recording errors, risk of document loss, and time inefficiencies in its implementation. The method used is the Waterfall system development method, which includes the stages of requirements analysis, system design using the Unified Modeling Language (UML), implementation with Laravel 12 and MySQL, black-box testing, and maintenance. The research subjects were the students and staff of SMKS Nahdlatul Ulama 2 Medan. Data collection instruments included direct observation, interviews with school officials, and literature review. The results showed that the developed online PPDB system is capable of facilitating digital registration for prospective students, managing applicant data by administrators, verifying documents, publishing selection result announcements, and printing registration receipts. Functional testing confirmed that all features operate stably and meet user requirements. In conclusion, this Laravel-based online PPDB system has proven effective in improving the efficiency and transparency of the new student admission process at SMKS Nahdlatul Ulama 2 Medan.
